A Cure for Cancer?

The cure for cancer is still some way off but it is something that science expects to happen possibly within the next few decades; some in authority believe the cure is not that far off and may be found in nature! This disease causes suffering everywhere it is found; it has caused untold deaths throughout history and when the cure is finally discovered it will have a huge impact around the world. The causes for cancer seem to be many but despite all the knowledge we gain, it is still almost impossible to know if or when a person will contract it.

Even now many people do not really understand what cancer is despite growing up with it all around them. Could it be true that we are all born with it? Firstly, it is a disease that starts as a group of abnormal cells that continue to divide; they cross over to other cells and sites of the body continuing to grow and divide.

Benign tumors do not normally grow larger, metastasize or threaten the body and organs like malignant (cancerous) tumors do although it is possible for a malignant tumor to have started out as benign. The risk of contracting this condition increases with age even though it can also affect the young; cancer is responsible for about 13 percent of all deaths worldwide. Whilst smoking, chemicals and radiation for instance, can be the cancer trigger, it is the poison from these or other sources that transform body cells and cause genetic abnormalities which grow and multiply.

To further complicate matters, it can also be the result of problems with faulty genetic codes passed down by parents which means that a person can be born with pre-cancerous cells although faults can also occur with the body’s DNA replication ability. Complex relationships between carcinogens and a person’s genetic makeup may explain why only some develop it after exposure to a known carcinogen.

Owing to the worldwide problem of cancer, it is regularly studied throughout the world and extending our knowledge on the subject. Once scientists discover the reason behind why some individuals are more likely to contract a disease than others, we may be closer to creating a cure. We all want to know more about the causes of cancer what we can do to help prevent this illness from striking.

One of the major causes surrounds food and dietary habits. Your regular diet could be putting you at long term risk from all kinds of diseases. People are generally eating too much of the wrong things such as an excess salt intake, too much saturated fat and certain dairy produce. Studies have shown that there is a connection between dairy produced calcium and prostrate cancer.

Cancer does not seem to have preferences as it is able to invade just about every part of the human body and organs. The problem is that it can also be insidious and a person may have it for some time before it is diagnosed. Cures for many types have advanced in recent years and are more likely to be successful if the cancer is found in its early stages. Advancements in medical techniques mean that cancer in many cases can be treated and often completely cured; it is only a matter of time before a complete cure is discovered.
